The name 'short and long reach' are counterintuitive in name and to their proposed function. Short reach & long reach can be confused in the ordering process, please double check as to meet your expectations before purchasing.
Your riding profile can dictate which handlebars you are most comfortable with. Catrina and I are both 2020 Can Am Spyder RT Limited riders and standard handlebars did not suit our needs.
With that said, both Spyders were fitted with the BRP backrest, which exacerbated the issue. The standard handlebars caused our torsos to be positioned forward, making no contact with the backrest. This was more prominent in Catrina's case.
Catrina went with the unconventional option and installed F3-S handlebars which made a vast improvement to her riding position. In my case, I only needed another inch or two to make that distance between the handlebars and the backrest more comfortable. I opted for the BRP 'Short Reach' handlebars which did the job perfectly.
