Join a group of American Red Cross youth volunteers as they share about what they learned during the 2023-24 International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Youth Action Campaign. This year, youth volunteers learned about nuclear weapons and how international law regulates their use during armed conflict. They also learned about the special legal protections given to nuclear power plants during wartime to help avoid radiological catastrophes.
This presentation was given live as part of the 2024 IHL YAC Political Discourse briefing, in which volunteers presented to high level professionals, including a Nagasaki bomb survivor, a US Congressman, US Department of State official, and a legal advisor from the International Committee for the Red Cross.
