A visit to the hospital chapel of St Mary Magdalene in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
It is worth mentioning that there are some associated almshouses with this chapel. Unfortunately I didn't have enough video clips to cover their history. So I have put some information here: The almshouses east and west of Magdalen’s Road date from 1892 on the East and a little earlier on the West. Those on the west, built in brick and c.1875, replaced an earlier 17th century building. There is a second chapel next to these almshouses, built in 1868 and also dedicated to Mary Magdalene, which is listed Grade II. This was founded after the re-organisation of the Hospital in 1864, when one of the Trustees, Rev George Mason gave £1,200 for its building. This was sold and changed into a private house in 1989, at which time the medieval chapel over the road was extensively restored and put back into use after a period of neglect.
The music is titled 'Autumn Sunset'. It is produced by Jason Shaw on AudionautiX is released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
