This video provides a 15 minute introductory overview of the “Yukon guide for developing water quality objectives and effluent quality standards for quartz mining projects”. It marks the launch of a 60-day engagement period for stakeholders and governments to provide feedback on the proposed guidelines.
This Yukon guide was developed to support the environmental assessment and water licencing processes in Yukon, and provide clear guidelines for water quality standards for quartz mining projects. In Yukon, quartz mining projects must determine their potential impacts to water quality and propose standards to reduce any impacts to Yukon waters and the broader environment.
Please note, the Mine License Improvement initiative mentioned at 3.04 to 4.55 is no longer in operation.
