Even after 15 years of the start of the work on the Kadapa-Bengaluru railway line project, it has not been completed. As soon as the 21-kilometer-long line was completed up to Pendlimarli in YSR district, the work was stalled. The dream of the late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy was to be fulfilled, the then Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy also diverted the path without paying attention to the authorities. With the NDA governments at the Center and in the state, many people from Annamayya district are pleading that funds will be allocated in today's central budget. This railway project is a long-standing desire of the residents of the joint Kadapa-Chittoor district. If we want to take the mango, banana, sweet potato and tomato crops that are grown extensively to Bangalore city and sell them, this railway line is the right one. The then late leader Asila Kaddadu wanted to complete it. In 2010, the foundation stone for the construction of this two hundred and eight kilometer-long line was laid with a cost of Rs. 200,131 crore. However, they wanted to complete it by 2014 but it was not completed. It was built up to Kadapa Pendlimarri, after which its construction was stopped. The DPR report was prepared so that it would reach Bangalore via Kadapa Pendlimarri, Idupulapaya, Rayachoti, Madanapalle. So far, the railway line has been limited to only 21 kilometers, the rest has been stopped. People are hopeful that funds will be allocated for it and it will be completed in the near future.
