Garden tour of Dr Shobha Nagnur's House at Dharwad | KARNATAKA

Hi, this is Shobha from Dharwad, Karnataka.

I am happy to announce the launch of my 'You tube' channel - My Garden My Passion.

I am a third generation gardener in the family. I have been lucky to have inherited a sprawling garden of a little over half an acre in area, and is unique in the sense, that it is a hill and is a natural garden, explained in books as 'Japanese Garden.' The garden is home to large blooming trees, pretty shrubs, elegant vines and potted plants, large number of which are those planted personally by my grandparents, and supplemented later by my parents. Though I studied a few horticulture courses as part of my curriculum while pursuing my studies at the University of Agricultural Sciences, I continue to be an old school gardensr. This is thanks to the influence of my elders at home, whose indigenous knowledge I greatly admire.

Engaged as I have been with writing on plants & flowers which has been an extension of my hands-on gardening, I felt it appropriate to take forward this association by sharing the glimpses of my garden with others. The purpose is not to show off, but make some humble contributions to diffusion of knowledge around nature, and highlight the importance of creating green spaces amidst growing urban clutter. There is something that I can share, thanks to the blend of academics and experience.

Today I am taking you on a tour of my garden. I wish to upload many more in the coming days, with a hope that you will both enjoy and benefit from these.
