Controllab has created a digital twin for a cable laying vessel. The digital twin was used by DEME to test the control systems of the Viking Neptune.
The digital twin is a simulation model that has been developed in 20-sim and generates a 3D animation in Unity. The digital twin includes a carousel for cable storage, chutes for cable feed, a quadrant handling system with winches and cable tensioners.
Using this digital twin companies like DEME can safely test all of their control software under real-world conditions before commissioning.
