Thanks for watching!
Lyrics:
West in the hills of the Great Basin desert
remains traces of a ghost town in the sand.
It was named “Rhyolite.” Found in 1905
as a post gold rush paradise.
Copper, lead silver and coal
built the town, fueled its growth.
Rhyolite fell and died just as fast as it rose
Once a prosperous town
All came crumbling down
As the mines emptied out
no more coal or silver was found
No crops could be grown
in the dry desert ground
Crumbling homes, dusty roads
Broken posts, rusted signs
Just a glimpse of the past
Fossilized in time
Once a prosperous town
All came crumbling down
Isolated and cut off from the rest of the world
Rhyolite, devastated could not stand on its own
Their inhabitants fled. The towns end had begun
Rhyolite forgotten desert town discolored bythe sun
I think of all of the pain
The thousands of lives that were here
As I walk through a place once alive but no more
