Big thanks to VW UK for providing both a 2019 and 2020 model year Golf GTI TCR for this test. The 2020 comes with an Akrapovic exhaust system as standard but a pretty hefty price increase, big question, is it worth it? Listen to this exhaust test and decide for yourself!

Additional optional equipment on this vehicle (the grey 2020 TCR): • GTI TCR Performance Pack – 7.5J x 19” ‘Reifnitz’ alloys with 225/35 R19 tyres and anti-theft wheel bolts, derestricted top speed to 164 mph, lowered sports suspension by approx. 20mm and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) – variable suspension settings, choice of Sport, Comfort and Normal (£2,100) • Carbon fibre door mirrors (£475) • side decals – honeycomb design (£555)

Retailer fitted optional equipment: • Vodaphone S5-VTS – vehicle tracker including one year subscription (£534.19 incl. fitting)

Colour and trim: Pure Grey (£620) with TCR upholstery
