In 2023, supported by Korea Financial Industry Foundation, Wonjin Institute for Occupational and Environmental Health along with 12 NGOs from eight Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam) conducted the 'EDC Free Asia II' project. The initiative involved collecting 362 consumer chemical products used directly on the skin across Asian countries to analyze for eight types of parabens, triclosan, and triclocarban, among other endocrine disruptors. In 2024, an international conference was held to share significant findings on the hazards presented by these products, including those without ingredient labels, with incorrect label information, exceeding regulations in Korea or Denmark, or containing fragrance allergens. The conference also facilitated discussions about the status quo in each Asian country with civil society and experts. This video shares all the details of these discussions.
