LISBOA :
Lisboa GCTE é a capital , bem como a maior e mais importante cidade de Portugal. Considerada uma cidade global Alfa-3 , Lisboa é também a capital do Distrito e da Área Metropolitana de mesmo nome. É ainda o principal centro da sub-região estatística da Grande Lisboa. Lisboa possuía, em 2011, uma população de 547 633 habitantes e uma área metropolitana envolvente que ocupa cerca de 2 870 km², abrigando quase 2,9 milhões de habitantes. A sua área metropolitana concentra 27% da população do país. A Região de Lisboa, que abrange do estuário do Tejo ao norte da Península de Setúbal, apresenta um PIB per capita superior à média da União Europeia, que faz desta a região a mais rica de Portugal, mas com a peculiaridade da sua economia se concentrar, sobretudo, em serviços . O concelho de Lisboa tem 84,97 km² de área, e apresenta uma densidade demográfica de 6 445 hab./km².

Os principais meios de transporte na cidade são o Metropolitano de Lisboa e os autocarros e elétricos da Carris. Porém, todos os dias entram em Lisboa cerca de meio milhão de carros, provenientes dos concelhos periféricos. Estes carros entram na cidade pela CRIL, pela CREL, a Ponte 25 de Abril, a Ponte Vasco da Gama e outros meios rodoviários importantes à capital.

Lisboa possui inúmeras atracções turísticas. A baixa pombalina, Belém, Chiado ou Bairro Alto, são zonas onde afluem milhares de turistas e visitantes anualmente. Duas agências europeias têm sede em Lisboa: o Observatório Europeu da Droga e da Toxicodependência e a Agência Europeia de Segurança Marítima, ambas com projectos de novas sedes à beira rio. Considerada a "Capital do Mundo Lusófono", Lisboa abriga ainda a sede da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa.

The urban area of Lisbon extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of over 3 million on an area of 958 km2 (370 sq mi), making it the 11th most populous urban area in the European Union. The Lisbon region is the wealthiest region in Portugal, GDP PPP per capita is 26,100 euros (4.7% higher than the average European Union's GDP PPP per capita). It is the tenth richest metropolitan area by GDP on the continent amounting to 110 billion euros and thus €39,375 per capita,40% higher than the average European Union's GDP per capita. The city occupies 32nd place of highest gross earnings in the world. Most of the headquarters of multinationals in the country are located in the Lisbon area and it is the 9th city in the world in terms of quantity of international conferences.
