Mazzy Star's set was part of a benefit event that was primarily an art show and sales at the art gallery to benefit the Esperanza health clinic, (Clinica Esperanza - Clinic of Hope).
It was Mazzy Star's first live show since their 2013 fall tour four years earlier, and it would be the only show they'd play till their Sydney, Australia appearances at the Vivid Fest there the following year in June 2018. Mazzy Star's last shows were in 2019.
The Terra Gallery set was a low-key appearance by Mazzy Star with almost no pre-announcement. The Terra Gallery site's FB page announcing the event made mention the band would be there. Reportedly, it was the gallery that did not want Mazzy Star's set to be prominently announced for fear the gallery might be inundated with too many Mazzy fans trying to get into the event to see the short (four song) set Mazzy Star played.
Mazzy Star made no pre-announcement themselves of the event on their official FB page. But after the fact the following day they posted (with photos) about having played the benefit the night before, writing, QUOTE:
"Mazzy Star, Dec. 1, 2017. Mazzy Star were so honored and pleased last night to have played a few songs for all the great people involved with Clinica Esperanza on the eve of World Aids Day at their Annual Mask Exhibition in San Francisco. Here are some pictures of the soundcheck and the handmade masks that were on display and for sale at the event. It was a great night, we really enjoyed playing and met a lot of wonderful people."
In an Oct. 20, 2017 WBUR Boston Warm Inventions (text, not audio) interview with Hope & Colm (of Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions), there was a confusing mention of the then upcoming benefit Mazzy Star set QUOTE:
"Sandoval says Mazzy Star 'has nothing right now. We do plan on going into the studio, but we don’t have any dates. We’re focused on [this (Oct. 2017 Warm Inventions) tour. We’re just doing a very small benefit for Esperanza Spalding [her Keys to Wellness Concert Nov. 22] in San Francisco. I think we’ll be on stage 15 minutes.'" (-Interview w. Hope & Colm, 2017-10-20, WBUR radio, Boston)
Presumably, the journalist (Jim Sullivan) misquoted Hope in the article and misunderstood the nature of the benefit which apparently had no connection with musician Esperanza Spalding or any concert she was involved in (plus the clinic is not named after her), contrary to what he wrote in the article.
Luckily, a FB fan group member connected to the band let us know details ahead of time about Mazzy Star's then upcoming appearance at the Terra Gallery in San Francisco which some fans were able to attend. A few were able to record the show and share their recordings. A one-off Mazzy Star show, their first in four years, seemed a special event that should be recorded, if possible.
You can hear Mazzy Star's complete 4-song Terra Gallery set on yt, here:

The band lineup for this show was: Hope Sandoval - vocals, David Roback - guitar, Josh Yenne - pedal steel guitar, Suki Ewers - keyboards & second guitar, Colm Ó Cíosóig - drums, Paul Mitchell - bass & violin.

The purple hued photo is from the show from FB user Dan Poppe who attended. The other two photos are from the sound check for the show. Mazzy Star shared those two (uncredited) photos at their official FB page the day following the event they played.
