On the night of July 3rd, 2014, in Fairfield, Illinois, young mother Kathy Jo Hutchcraft returns home a little after 11 PM. She plans to relax after a long and busy day. While making a quick meal, she suddenly feels a wave of fear. Something feels very wrong. She decides to check on her 15-year-old daughter, Megan, who should be asleep. To her horror, she finds Megan's bed empty.

Kathy Jo searches the entire house. Megan is nowhere to be found. Desperate, she calls and texts her daughter but gets no response. Deeply concerned, Kathy Jo contacts her mother. Together, they drive to the Fairfield police station to report Megan missing. The police, however, dismiss their worries. They suggest that teenagers often run away and that Megan will likely return soon. They also say it's too early to file a missing person report.

Back at home, Kathy Jo and her mother search Megan’s room for clues. Kathy Jo pulls back the blanket on the bed and finds Megan's phone. It has been reset to factory settings and completely wiped.

When the two women kneel to pray, they discover a note addressed to “Mom.” Kathy Jo recognizes the handwriting, but the note does not sound like Megan....

Her biological father is quickly arrested but ultimately cleared. What does her ex-boyfriend Brodey Murbarger know?

Megan’s story is an inspiring tale about the never-ending love of a mother. It is a story about a family determined to find their child, supported by amazingly loving friends and a little town that never gives up on finding Megan.
