The dark magical girl genre is one of my personal favourites, and I really enjoyed talking more about it in this video. Dark magical girl puts a twist on the classic magical girl genre, and features characters in a darker setting using their powers or abilities to protect others. When you present this in a manga or a novel, you will need to put a focus on crafting this darker atmosphere, and showing how your characters fight to survive in this difficult environment.
