Divine Decay - DOTS Horde Simulation Prototype | Unity ECS, Jobs & Burst
This video showcases Divine Decay, a high-performance gameplay prototype built with Unity DOTS (Entities, Jobs, Burst) to explore large-scale undead horde simulation, AI behavior, pathfinding, local avoidance, and data-oriented combat systems.
In Divine Decay, you play as a dying god whose mindless undead cannot be commanded directly. Instead, you manipulate the battlefield through corruption, divine influence, and environmental control, spreading terror to restore your fading power.
This prototype demonstrates:
-Thousands of active ECS-driven AI units
-Multithreaded movement, steering, and local avoidance
-Real-time pathfinding at scale
-Burst-compiled projectile simulation
-Data-oriented combat and damage pipelines
-Performance-first architecture for large simulations
This build was tested and recorded on an 8-year-old consumer PC to validate real-world performance constraints and optimization strategies.
The only third-party runtime dependency is Rukhanka Animation System 2 for DOTS-compatible animation playback.
All gameplay systems, AI, navigation, combat, and simulation architecture were implemented from scratch.
