A beautiful, renaissance inspired tune by John Rebourn. He recorded it at a faster tempo, but I chose to take it at a slower pace because I like how it highlights the counterpoint.
I believe the interesting song title is a mash up of song titles common of the renaissance era. Often times a musician would compose a piece of music and dedicate it to a patron, such as “Lady Hammond’s Alman” or “Mrs. Taylor’s Galliard”. A toye is a light, fun instrumental piece, an example would be “A Toye For Two Lutes”. I’m not sure where puffe comes from, but I’ve heard it’s a blowing technique used with woodwind instruments.
