[작가 Inner View] 반전된 산수, 이이남 작가

뉴미디어 아티스트로 잘 알려진 이이남은 고전과 현대, 인류와 자연, 동양과 서양, 창작과 복제등 여러 주제들을 미디어 기술과 접목한다. '반전된 산수'는 의재 허백련의 '산수팔곡병풍(山水八曲屛風)'작품을 차용하여 디지털 기술을 통해 우리가 익숙하게 보았던 산수화의 개념을 무너뜨린다. 상하가 바뀐 산수화와 물속에 비친 본래 산수화 모습이 연결됨으로써 우리가 눈으로 바라본 실체의 진실이 무엇인지 물음표를 던진다.

Media artist Lee Lee Nam creates amalgamations of today's high-tech media technology and diverse subjects such as the classical and the modern, humans and nature, the East and the West and creation and reproduction. Borrowed from Landscape Eight-panel Folding Screen painted by Huh Baek Ryeon, Lee Lee Nam’s digitalized Reversed Landscape surprises the audience familiar with conventional landscape painting. A landscape where the top and the bottom are reversed and the original landscape reflected in the waters are overlaid and interwoven, posing questions about the truth of the substance which we observe with our eyes.
