Electromagnetic Waves || for Class 12 in Hindi

In this Physics video in Hindi for Class 12 we explained what electromagnetic wave is and how it is produced. We also explained the formula for electric and magnetic field in that wave. This topic is from Chapter 8 : 'Electromagnetic Waves' for Class 12 from NCERT.

Electromagnetic wave is the oscillation of electric and magnetic fields, which propagates through space and carry energy.

Depending on the frequency of oscillation, different wavelengths of electromagnetic spectrum are produced. Electromagnetic waves travel at the speed of light, commonly denoted c. In homogeneous, isotropic media, the oscillations of the two fields are perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to the direction of energy and wave propagation, forming a transverse wave.

Electromagnetic waves of different frequency are called by different names, viz., radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and gamma rays.

James Clerk Maxwell derived a wave form of the electric and magnetic equations, thus uncovering the wave-like nature of electric and magnetic fields and their symmetry. Because the speed of EM waves predicted by the wave equation coincided with the measured speed of light, Maxwell concluded that light itself is an EM wave.
