Pineapple Pachadi Recipe | Traditional Kerala Style | Onam Sadhya Special
Learn how to make Pineapple Pachadi, a sweet, tangy, and creamy side dish from Kerala’s traditional Sadhya feast. This dish combines the tropical flavor of pineapple with the richness of coconut and curd, perfectly balanced with a hint of spice and sweetness.
Ingredients:
Pineapple (finely chopped)
Grated coconut
Curd (yogurt)
Green chillies
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds
Turmeric powder
Salt
Coconut oil
Dry red chillies
Jaggery (for sweetness)
Preparation Steps:
Cook the pineapple: In a pan, add chopped pineapple, a pinch of turmeric, green chillies, salt, and a little water. Cook until the pineapple becomes soft.
Make coconut paste: Grind grated coconut with a small amount of mustard seeds and water to make a smooth paste.
Add the coconut paste to the cooked pineapple and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Sweeten with jaggery: Add grated jaggery and mix well until it melts and blends into the curry.
Add curd: Once cooled slightly, stir in beaten curd to bring out the creamy texture. Do not boil after adding curd.
Prepare tempering: In hot coconut oil, splutter mustard seeds, dry red chillies, and curry leaves.
Pour the tempering over the pachadi and mix well. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Perfect for festivals like Onam, Vishu, or any Kerala-style meal
