BREAKING NEWS: GUCCI NAMES BALENCIAGA’S DEMNA AS NEXT CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Gucci has named their next creative director after Sabato De Sarno’s exit from the house, and it’s a truly disappointing choice. Unfortunately Gucci decided to stay within the Kering Group umbrella, and has hired the incredibly problematic Demna from Balenciaga.

Balenciaga’s former creative director Demna has been involved in several incredibly problematic controversies, which call his ethics and standards into question. I personally am incredibly disappointed in Gucci’s choice with Demna, as he doesn’t appear to be of sound mind or adequate fashion talent to lead the house into success. There’s no doubt that he has good design experience from his time at Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela. But instead, he only puts out jokes and gimmicks like his garbage bag, the ikea bag, the key earrings, and the potato chip bag. He does not seem to be up for the job to reviving a top luxury house like Gucci. I really and truly wish this were a different outcome. But I guess we’re stuck with Demna at Gucci for now… let’s see how he does.
