Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Edge Raised Rail Feet. When it comes to roof racks, you've got a couple of different components you're gonna need to get yourself up and running. You need the crossbars, obviously. That's the top piece that your accessories will actually attach to.

And then in this case the raised rail feet will attach the crossbars and our vehicle and serve as that bridge between the two pieces. If you have raised rails on your vehicle that's this raised portion here with a gap underneath it. That's what allows our feet to attach. By wrapping this cord around and tightening down. Let's check it out.

So these are gonna be designed to work with Thule Edge Crossbars whether that be the Aero Blade edge or the wing bar edge. And really all the edge means is that the crossbar doesn't have any overhang past the foot pack here. The crossbar starts and ends in the foot pack. So depending on the vehicle you have there's going to be an ideal length to make sure it properly fits on the roof. So be sure to enter in your vehicle information to our fit guide and find the right kit for you.

Just because you have the raised rails here doesn't mean that any crossbar will work with your system but these feet are designed to work with a wide variety of different raised rails. So that's good to know that you can probably find the right kit for you. Now, the way it attaches to the raised rail here is actually with this very thick band wrapping around and it hooks to two different places inside the foot pack. We'll check that out later, but that's how it actually attaches and tightens down. You can see it gets a really strong hold on the raised rail.

There's no shifting or moving around with that band. It provides a lot of grip. The one thing I will complain about is that this isn't the most durable material in the world. We've seen instances of very old roof racks where this type of attachment point will wear down in weather over time. I prefer just something that clamps around and that's maybe more metal construction. Not to say that this won't work well long term it's just maybe not my preferred way of attaching. The rubber base around the raised rail here that's at the base of the foot and it conforms to the raised rail. That's gonna prevent any sort of gaps for air to get in and cause a lot of wind noise and help it conform to whatever roof rack it's attaching to. They come with these plastic locking cores out of the box which aren't really locking per se. If you've got anything like a quarter, a screwdriver, or even a washer something just flat that you can get in there you can turn it and remove the covers on the feet. So I would definitely suggest swapping these out for a lock core set. You can pick that up here at etrailer if you want to turn these into some locking covers and give you that added security. With it removed though we can see inside to where that band attaches. Right at the base here, we've got our hooks where one end of the band is hooking onto, and then underneath, you can't really see it from this angle, is where the band ends. So everything starts and ends in the foot pack here. It is completely covered up by that cover whenever you have it attached. Now, whatever roof rack kit you end up going with the installation process is gonna be the exact same. Your crossfires just might be shorter or longer than the ones we're using today, but again, more or less that install process is the same because it's designed to work with a wide variety of raised rails.
