Quality values are used to assess confidence and accuracy of sequencing as well as mutation calling. Specifically, they can be used to help minimize false positive calls by identifying regions of low quality in the trace files. Quality values can be assigned to measure single nucleotide quality, such as Phred Score and signal to noise ratio values. These scores can then be collectively used to measure the quality of an entire trace. Additional scores that help assess the overall trace quality include the Base Score, Lane Quality and Signal Strength. To evaluate the confidence of a mutation call, scores such as the Mutation Score, Indel Quality Score and NM_score can be displayed.
