"Fernando" is my parents' favourite song, since my father is called Fernando and my mother is called Fernanda and it was a major hit in Europe in their youth. As they're celebrating their 50th (!) marriage anniversary, here's a special take on “Fernando” with guitar accompaniment by José Brites.

Written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, "Fernando" is one of ABBA's best-selling singles of all time, with six million copies sold in 1976 alone. The song's lyrics mimic the conversation of two friends - once freedom fighters - on a starry night, as they share their guerrilla war memories from several years before in Mexico.
