The Atanigi Expedition was asked to be part of the opening parade for Nunavut's 11th birthday, having been officially established as a Canadian territory on April 1, 1999. We were invited to the opening ceremonies, prayer, public barbecue, fashion show and drum dance. At night we were invited to the main hall for live music, dance jigs, reels and Inuit games.
