Here- we go through the derivation of the time-distance relationship fort the CMP dipping layer reflector. We spend some time reviewing the hyperbolic characteristics of the response and the differences between the dipping and horizontal layer responses. The dipping layer response is also contrasted with the dipping layer response observed in the shot record.
