Many people have asked me to start using custom scenery, others have simply wondered what I would create using it. Well, the wait is over, here it is: Pinewood Park!
I have decided not to show the roller coaster ratings this time, as I want the rides to speak for themselves.
I started this project back in August, and I had no idea that it would take this long, or that it would be as big a park as this.
I had an image of the finished park in my mind, and thought that I had nearly completed it nearer to the beginning of September, but some of you will remember me announcing that I was going to Alton Towers, and when I was there, I suddenly had lots more inspiration, and this led to the park being expanded somewhat.
Another reason for this taking so long is that I was essentially re-learning how to build, you see I have very little experience of custom scenery, as I have avoided using it for the most part, in fact, I have actually only used it on one other park, my Country Park video, after that, I went back to using in-game scenery only.
Before I started, I started downloading CS sets, and I came across a really great source of it, DasMatzes RCT Island, (http://www.dasmatze.de/rct/news.php) and I have used a few of his sets in my park, including:
Office Day
Fences and Railings
Industry Age
Mc Connerys Fast Food
Utilities
And his fantastic Custom Tracked Ride, The Park Jet Monorail!
I also used custom scenery from Vodhin, including his amazing Vermont scenery set, and his lighting sets.
I also used custom scenery from and Shyguy, including his Catfish Cove Scenery set.
I also used:
Fechus Playground Set
Stuk71s Hangar Sets
The_Cooks Trackbeds
eeZees Granite Walls Set
Bafkes Stations
Ath Catwalk Set
Belgabors Invisible Doodads
ESSAceanas Pavement Essentials
Iceatcs Billboard Shop
Jcat Steelworxx and Mouseworx
lukashoffmann1s Black Walls
Mobys Steel Jungle
Xistics Office Glass
T4L billboards.
To name a few.
The first roller coaster I built was Saltire I decided very early on in the project that I wanted an inverted roller coaster, after being inspired by Kumalli at Flamingoland.
The next ride I build was Athena I tried to make it intermingle with Saltire as much as possible.
After this, I decided to bring back Nimbus now I know that you have all seen this ride before, but as it means so much to me, I decided that it would be good to show it off with custom supports and stations. It is not exactly the same ride though, it is a complete rebuild. Instead of being a Corkscrew coaster, it is now an Extended coaster; this allowed me to re-build the ride, making a few tweaks here and there, to make it as smooth as possible. I have also added another inversion too the ride, a twist. The ride is simply called New Nimbus
Then we come to Bolivion now, it should be blatantly obvious what inspired this ride! There is a funny story attached to this one, you see it was when I was in Alton Towers, and I had just finished riding Oblivion and was walking back towards the centre of the park, and I overheard a conversation, a little girl said to her parents, Look, there is Bolivion! to which her parents corrected her, and told her the ride was actually called Oblivion! This name stuck, and I decided to use it here.
I may do more CS projects in future, but now that this project is finished, I am going to completely remove all the cs sets from my computer, and re-install RCT3, so there will be no accusations of using leftover cs objects!
