We decided to take a gravel road between Memel and Wakkerstroom and we were so glad we did. Along the way, we came across the site of the Battle of Ingogo, also known as the Battle of Skuinshoogte. It was heartbreaking to see the graves of such young men whose lives were lost to war. From there, we continued on to Wakkerstroom. As we drove into town, we could immediately feel a sense of peace. Our accommodation was wonderful and the horse-drawn cart ride was a truly special experience. Exploring the town was a delight from the magnificent old Court House and beautiful churches to the historic Paul Kruger Bridge. We ended the day with a delicious meal at the Wakkerstroom Hotel, and the following morning, we hit the road once again. This charming village has truly found a special place in our hearts.
