There are prehistoric ruins in Dorchester, and you can see traces of The Romans here and there.
Statues of the famous locals such as writer and poet Thomas Hardy and poet William Barnes are on High Street.
It is a town where you can enjoy shopping at independent shops and specialty shops, and there are also a couple of antique centres.
Two large stores within walking distance from the centre, and another one in 15 minutes drive to the north.
In those stores antiques, vintages and crafts are reasonably priced.

作家・詩人のトマス・ハーディー、詩人のウィリアム・バーンズなど、地元の有名人の像がハイストリートにあります。
個人商店や専門店などが揃い買い物が楽しい町で、さらにはアンティークセンターも。
中心部から歩いていける距離の大きな店２件、そして車で15分北上してもう1件、
全体的にお値打ちな価格なのが嬉しいです。
