Boom&Zoom with Bf109E1 (5 kills) - Tutorial & decision making - War Thunder

In this flight I mainly use the B&Z tactic, which work very well with Bf109 thanks to its good climb rate.
The idea of Boom&zoom is to engage from higher : dive, shoot, and climb back to your altitude with the speed gained in the dive.

Few rules to optimize this tactic :
Easiest targets are aircrafts who are climbing (because generally slow) and not seeing you coming.
Don't hesitate to abort a dive if you see you won't have a good firing position.
Except during the dive (when you are focus on your target), check your six and the sky around all the time, to avoid being surprised and killed by someone else.

In general, whatever the combat tactic you use, try to always keep a good SA (situation awarness), especially during the first part of the game when there are a lot of people flying. And to do so, it's better to avoid dogfighting. A dogfight lasting too long means you loose your SA (you can't fight your opponent effectively and check all the sky in the same time) and you're most likely to be killed by an aircraft you won't see coming.

Finally, at the end of a video, you will have an example of how you can increase your chance of easily make overshoot someone chasing you. When I start my turning back, you will see me reducing power to 0% to slow down a little bit. The idea is to have a tigher turn radius when merging with your opponent (who will generally keep its speed) to easily take an offensive position. But don't loose too much speed, otherwise you will be immediately dominated after the merge.
Keep in mind good pilots will counter this defensive move by either aborting their pass, or by reducing also their speed to stay behind you.

I recently started to fly air battles in War Thunder, so I'm still getting used to it (especially to have precise shot by using joystick and rudder instead of the mouse). But I have the advantage of having 20 years of experience in realistic WWII simulators (IL2 1946, IL2 great battles and DCS World). And I'm happy to share it.
I also play the simulator mode so no doubt I will upload some videos in this mode later.
