2025 has proven to be one of Wombwell Main's greatest years after the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League League Cup triumph at Doncaster Rovers.

Much more has happened. Plenty of last minute winners or equalisers. The goalkeeper Ben Priestley scored the last minute equaliser against Denaby Main.

The captain Ben Knox had an eventful year. He lifted the League Cup trophy, becoming the first Wombwell captain to lift silverware since Simon Chadburn in 2013. But then broke his nose on his own celebration Ben Knox Day.

Perhaps the greatest moment was Ryan Wingrove's last minute winner in the League Cup semi-final tie against Hepworth United.

We are managed by Terry Simon and we are proud members of the EV2 Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Premier Division. During the 2022/23 season, Terry led the side to a second place finish, narrowly missing out on becoming champions during a very dramatic final round of fixtures.

We are part of a community-led sports and social association based in Barnsley in the United Kingdom.

The area of Wombwell was the birthplace of Manchester United legend Mark Jones who was sadly killed in the 1958 Munich Air Disaster. He is buried in Wombwell cemetery.
