Anat Navarro - May It Be So "Lu Yehi" ענת נבארו - לו יהי

All that we request, may it be so - כל שנבקש לו יהי
a Few days ago I performed in an event where parents of the hostages were speaking. It was very hard to listen.
One of The songs I sang was a very special song called "Lu Yehi" which means: May is happen.
This an old song that has became like a hymn in Israel. Song of hope which lyrics are extremely relevant for today's war in Israel.

Here is some information about the song and also the lyrics translation:
“Lu Yehi” was written and composed by Naomi Shemer during the Yom Kippur War (1973), and has since become one of the symbols of the war.
Before the war, Naomi Shemer decided to write Hebrew words for the Beatles' song “Let It Be”. She did not like the translation of the song's name to "Shihyeh" which could be understood as “Whatever,” and thought that it should be given the name "Lu Yehi".
Her version is not a translation of the Beatles song but a hopeful prayer for a quick end to the war and for the safety of IDF soldiers ("This is the end of the summer, the end of the road, let them come back.")
The second stanza of the song ("If the messenger is standing in the door, put good news in his mouth, whatever we ask - may it be") was later omitted in most performances of the song because Naomi Shemer was convinced that the words were inappropriate in the difficult atmosphere of the war and the large number of families who received terrible news about their loved ones by the messenger knocking on the door.

כָּל שֶׁנְּבַקֵּשׁ - לוּ יְהִי
If your soul asks to die ’Im nafshekha la-mut sho’èlèt
אִם נַפְשְׁךָ לָמוּת שׁוֹאֶֽלֶת
Blossoming and harvest time, mi-periha u-mé-’asif,
מִפְּרִיחָה וּמֵאָסִיף,
All that we ask for, May it be! Kol shè-nevaqèsh - lu yehi!
כָּל שֶׁנְּבַקֵּשׁ - לוּ יְהִי
What answer voices do I hear?
Ma qol ‛anot ’ani shoméa‛
?מַה קוֹל עַנוֹת אֲנִי שׁוֹמֵעַ
The sound of shofar and the sound of drums, Qol shofar ve-qol tupim.
,קוֹל שׁוֹפָר וְקוֹל תֻפִּים
All that we ask for, May it be! Kol shè-nevaqèsh - lu yehi!
כָּל שֶׁנְּבַקֵּשׁ - לוּ יְהִי
Let be heard within all this Lu tishama‛ be-tokh kol ’élèh
לוּ תִּשָׁמַע בְּתוֹךְ כָּל אֵלֶּה
Also one prayer from my mouth. Gam tefila ’ahat mi-pi.
גַּם תְּפִלָּה אַחַת מִפִּי,
All that we ask for, May it be! Kol shè-nevaqèsh - lu yehi!
כָּל שֶׁנְּבַקֵּשׁ - לוּ יְהִי
Within a small, shaded neighborhood, Be-tokh shekhuna qetana mutsèlèt
בְּתוֹךְ שְׁכוּנָה קְטַנָה מֻצֶּֽלֶת
A small house with a red roof. Bayit qat ‛im gag ’adom,
בַּֽיִת קָט עִם גַּג אָדֹם,
All that we ask for, May it be! Kol shè-nevaqèsh - lu yehi!
כָּל שֶׁנְּבַקֵּשׁ - לוּ יְהִי
This is the end of summer, the end of the path. Zè sof ha-qayits, sof ha-dèrèkh
זֶה סוֹף הַקַּֽיִץ סוֹף הַדֶּֽרֶךְ
Allow them to return here!!! . Tén la-hèm la-shuv halom,
תֵּן לָהֶם לָשׁוּב הֲלוֹם,
All that we ask for, May it be! Kol shè-nevaqèsh - lu yehi!
כָּל שֶׁנְּבַקֵּשׁ - לוּ יְהִי
