മലപ്പുറം ഊരകം പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ പുല്ലൻഞ്ചാൽ റൂട്ടിലുള്ള കുറ്റിപ്പുറം പണിക്കർ കളരിയിലേക്ക് ആണ് ഇന്ന് മലബാർ സഫാരിയുടെ യാത്ര.വർഷങ്ങളായി അടഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുന്ന ഒരു കളരിയിൽ ചെന്നുകേറി, ആദ്യം തന്നെ കണ്ടത് ഒരു നെടുനീളൻ പാമ്പിനെ. മനുഷ്യൻ വിട്ടുനിന്നാൽ പിന്നെ ഏതൊരിടവും പ്രകൃതി ഏറ്റെടുക്കും. അത് രാജകൊട്ടാരമോ കർഷകന്റെ കുടിലൊ ആകാം. കേരളം ഇന്ന് മലയാള ഭാഷയിൽ മിണ്ടുന്നവരുടെ സംസ്ഥാനമായെങ്കിലും പരസ്പരം പോരാടിച്ചു പോന്നിരുന്ന ശത്രു രാജ്യങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ നാടിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തെ വളരെ സജീവവും, സമ്പുഷ്ടവുമാക്കുന്നു. തന്റെ കോവിലകം ഓലമേഞ്ഞത് മാറ്റി ഓട് പാകിയതിന്റെ പേരിൽ അയൽ രാജാവ് യുദ്ധത്തിന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്നൊരു ചരിത്രം നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടിലെ പഴയ രാജാക്കന്മാരെ കുറിച്ചുള്ളതാണ്. ആ പ്രാകൃത കാലത്തിന്റെ പല അവശേഷിപ്പുകളും നമ്മുടെ ഭാഷയിലും, സംസ്കാരത്തിലും ഇന്നും പ്രകടമായി കാണാം. പക്ഷെ അത്തരമൊരു പ്രാചീന ആയുധ പാഠശാല അത്യപൂർവ്വമായൊരു കാഴ്ചയാണ്. കളരിപ്പയറ്റിനെകുറിച്ചുള്ള ധാരാളം കഥകൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടാവും പക്ഷെ ഒരു കളരി നേരിൽ കണാനുള്ള ഭാഗ്യം നമുക്കുണ്ടാവില്ല. മലബാറിൽ ഇന്നവശേഷിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുതും പഴയതുമായ കുറ്റിപ്പുറം പണിക്കർ കളരി, കാലങ്ങളായി ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട നിലയിലാണെങ്കിലും, അതി വിപുലവും ഗംഭീരവുമായ ഈ കളരി അതിന്റെ പഴക്കത്തെ അതിജീവിച്ചു നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു. ഒരുപാട് പോരാട്ടങ്ങൾക്ക് വേദിയായ ഇവിടം ഇന്ന് നരിച്ചീറുകളും വിഷസർപ്പങ്ങളും വാഴുന്ന ഒരിടമായി മാറിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. ഇന്ന് അതിനകത്തു കയറുക എന്നത് തന്നെ വലിയ സാഹസമാണ്. നാഗക്കാവിന്റെ സുരക്ഷയിൽ ചുറ്റിലും കഴിയുന്ന ഇഴജന്തുകൾ അവരുടെ വിഹാര കേന്ദ്രമാക്കി മാറ്റി ഈ കളരി. മച്ചിൽ പരദേവതയെ കുടിയിരുത്തിയ ഇവിടുത്തെ അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾക്ക് കൂട്ടിന് ഇത്തരം ജീവികളാണ് ഉള്ളത്.അത്യപൂർവ്വ കാഴ്ചകൾ ജീവൻ പണയം വെച്ച് ചിത്രീകരിച്ചു.

This place, which was the scene of many battles, has now become a place where jackals and poisonous snakes reign. Today, even entering it is a great adventure. The reptiles that used to live around it under the protection of the Nagakkava have turned this cave into their sanctuary.
