For 4 seasons Riverdale's main "big bad" was Hiram Lodge (inspired partly by gangster films and then president Trump) but in Season 6 after showrunner father, Francisco Aguirre Sacasa was Imprisoned by Nicaragua’s President a new "big bad" arrived to terrorize the town, Percival Pickens a literal dictator. Makin the core 4 "freedom fighters" in the literal sense along with tackling modern issues like homelessness, ancestry and labor unions among others.
