In 1913 Marie Sklodowska-Curie was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University. For International Women's Day, PhD Student Kerys uncovers the original transcript of a speech given by the principal of the University, Sir Oliver Lodge, from the Lapworth Museum of Gelology archives.
During her award, Sir Oliver Lodge called Marie Curie “the greatest woman of science of all time”.
Her radiation research has continued to pave the way for radiology, which still saves lives today.
