The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma and Vinod Kumar in connection with an alleged bribery and corruption case linked to the Department of Defence Production under the Ministry of Defence. The arrests followed the registration of a case by the CBI on December 19, 2025, after the agency received credible information about illegal activities involving government officials and private companies operating in the defence sector. According to investigators, Sharma allegedly demanded and accepted bribes to provide undue favours to certain firms engaged in defence manufacturing and exports.
