TODAY'S REFLECTION
Zechariah who had temporarily lost his faculty of speech now breaks out in a canticle of praise and blessing. He sees the extraordinary birth of his child as a milestone in God’s plan of salvation-an even in which God proves to be faithful to his promise. A forerunner for his Son is part of the plan! Zechariah exalts the mercy of the Lord that gifted him this son even in his old age. He praises God for assigning to his son a role in the fulfilment of the promise. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he foresees that role-his son will prepare the way for the long awaited Messiah. Lord, help me to discover your plan as it unfolds in the events of my life. Let me, too, praise the Father for his faithfulness and love. Grant me the grace to introduce you to the world in the place and time that you have assigned to me.
