Gladstone I Catch and Cook + Yacht Escape!

We rolled into Gladstone, Queensland, planning on a month of work and plenty of weekend exploring… but the car had other ideas! An unexpected engine fault meant we stayed put, but we made the most of it.

From compost toilet cleaning and fixing the washing machine to ticking off other van maintenance jobs — we got it all sorted! When we weren’t elbow-deep in chores, we enjoyed a stroll along the Gladstone waterfront, soaked up the serenity at Tondoon Botanical Gardens, and spent some downtime at East Shores. 🌿🌊

Finally, the weather turned it on, and you know what that means — offshore fishing time! Ryan headed out and came back with a freezer full of fresh fish. We also hit the harbour and creeks, scoring some delicious mud crabs for an epic catch & cook feast. 🦀

To finish off our time in Gladstone, our friends invited us onto their yacht for the weekend — the perfect way to wrap up our stay! 🚤 A couple of days filled with quality time, amazing food, a few too many beverages, fishing, and plenty of laughs made for the ultimate send-off before we hit the road again.
