In this beginners tutorial I will show you the most used techniques for cutting and extracting subjects from the background using Photoshop.
For solid color backgrouds it's best to use the smart selection tools (Magic Wand and Quick Selection) but using them will usually requite to also use the Refine Edge in order to get perfectly sharp edges.
