How To Use Drop Cloths/Dust Sheets Before Painting With Dulux Emulsion- Sheeting Up Tutorial 2017
When preparing a room for redecoration, or an area for painting it is necessary to carry out a number of pre-tasks, remove obstacles such as:-
Furniture
Radiators if required
Carpets & underlay
Curtains, blinds, tracks & rails
Ornaments
Door & window ironmongery
The above items should be stripped from the room & stored during the painting & decorating processes.
Further information -
On entering the premises, sheet up the walkways to the point of entry to the room that is to be decorated
Remove all moveable items from the room to other rooms. Furniture that is too large to be moved should be located centrally & covered with protective sheeting.
If the carpet is to be lifted, loosen carefully & roll up with the underlay. Place in the centre of the room & cover with protective sheeting.
Remove curtains, nets& blinds. Fold carefully so damage is not caused. Fold curtains in pleats to prevent creasing
Dismantle curtain rails, keep all the fittings together & store in a safe place for refitting
Switch off electricity supply & protect all light fittings (wall & ceiling)
Remove all ironmongery from the doors & windows (not the hinges)
Mask up special features such as stone fireplaces.(some masking tapes can stain the stonework ,be careful)
Sheet up the floor area using good quality cotton twill dust sheets - double them over for more protection as seen in the video
YOU ARE NOW READY TO START TO TASK OF DECORATION
