Notes: After missing the previous night's event, Dennis Anderson's Grave Digger hit the wall after the last set of cars, doing enough damage to rule him out for the competition. Also out for the day was Rod Litzau's USA-1 and Bob Breen's Wild Hair. Scott Stephens' King Krunch was still missing the front and rear fiberglass after flipping the truck in Kalazmazoo a few weeks ago. John Kwasniewski got a break after the officials failed to recognize his red-light against Jon Breen's Mad Dog. Jesse Birgy's Play'n for Keeps takes a rough bounce and hits the wall during his race with Gary Wiggins' Mopar Magic, which caught on fire briefly while winning the race. Gary Porter's Carolina Crusher would also hit the wall, causing only repairable damage, while beating Stephens. David Morris won with Equalizer despite having no steering halfway through the race.
Rod Litzau's qualifying run was one of the most memorable runs in the entire history of TNT, clearing every single CAR and jumping what could be estimated as a total distance exceeding 100 feet on the final jump. The run proved to be too perfect, however, as the altitude and speed attained during the run cracked the bell housing on the truck's transmission, snapping USA-1's three-race winning streak.
