The power-sharing issue has reached its climax. A date has been fixed for negotiations between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. The talks are expected to take place in the presence of Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi.

Both the CM and DCM are likely to be called to Delhi soon. Negotiations are reportedly scheduled for November 29. Mallikarjun Kharge has stated that the high command will intervene and resolve the confusion surrounding the Chief Minister’s position. The party has now devised a plan to settle the ongoing power-sharing dispute.

Rahul Gandhi is reportedly evaluating the leadership issue carefully, considering the consequences of favouring either leader. During his meeting with Priyank Kharge yesterday, discussions also included caste-wise statistics. The meeting reportedly lasted for more than an hour at a private hotel in Bengaluru. Satish Jarkiholi has his eye on the KPCC president post and has also expressed interest in becoming CM in 2028. Despite this, DK Shivakumar met Satish for discussions. After meeting DK Shivakumar last night, Minister Satish Jarkiholi hosted a dinner meeting. More than nine close MLAs attended the gathering at a private hotel in Bengaluru.

DK Shivakumar is said to have appealed to them to stand by him in the upcoming high-command meeting. If Satish Jarkiholi makes a single phone call, 20 to 25 MLAs may rally behind him. Given his influence and network, Satish’s moves have gained considerable significance.

5) BJP Sends a Message Amid Congress Turmoil

The BJP appears to be trying to capitalise on the chaos and infighting within the Karnataka Congress. The party has now sent a strong message to the DK camp:
“If D.K. Shivakumar extends external support and the central leadership approves, we are ready,” former CM D.V. Sadananda Gowda said, triggering shockwaves.

However, Opposition Leader R. Ashok has maintained that the BJP will not associate with DK Shivakumar.
“If DK really had the support of 70 MLAs, wouldn’t his high command have already made him CM? Union Minister V. Somanna’s comments about an alternative system may be accurate. But I am against mid-term elections; they will hamper the development of the state,” R. Ashok said.
