How to Install Git on Windows (Step-by-Step)

In this video, we will learn how to how to Install Git on Windows. Below are the steps I used in the video.

Step 1: Go to the Git website
Open https://git-scm.com

Step 2: Download Git for Windows
Click the download button (it auto-detects Windows).

Step 3: Run the installer
Double-click the downloaded file to start installation.

Step 4: Follow the setup wizard
Click "Next" through most steps (default options are fine).

Step 5: Choose editor
Select your preferred code editor (VS Code, Notepad++, etc.).

Step 6: Adjust PATH option
Choose “Git from the command line and also from 3rd-party software”.

Step 7: Finish installation
Click "Install", then "Finish" when done.

Step 8: Verify Git is installed
Open Git Bash or Command Prompt.
Type: git --version
You should see the installed version.

Tools Installed with Git for Windows:
1. Git Bash – A Unix-style terminal for Git commands.
2. Git CMD – Git available inside a Windows Command Prompt.
3. Git GUI – A graphical interface to manage Git repositories.
