The Saptamatrikas, as described in the Varaha Purana, are powerful Shaktis who assisted Lord Shiva in defeating the demon Andhakasura. Each drop of the demon’s blood multiplied into another demon upon touching the ground. To counter this, Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Indra, Kartikeya, Varaha, and Yama emanated their feminine forms—the Saptamatrikas: Brahmi, Vaishnavi, Maheshwari, Indrani, Kaumari, Varahi, and Chamundi—who drank the demon’s blood, securing victory through their divine strength. These seven goddesses embody strength, wisdom, and protection, symbolizing the essence of feminine divinity in Hindu mythology.
