HOW TO MOUNT YOUR CAMERA OVERHEAD (EASY CAMERA RIG FOR OVERHEAD SHOTS)

In this video I show you how to mount your camera overhead by building an articulating camera rig to record video from overhead. Using only items available in my shop and a little ingenuity this simple solution to a real problem emerged . Having done many videos with my camera on a tripod looking over my shoulder or sitting on the work bench I decided today was the day I make an overhead camera mounting rig! Mounting the camera overhead is a very important ability to have to get the best possible shot of your hands working on a project . Its hands free and adjustable to different heights and angles . The square tubing was salvaged from my old living room recliner before going to the dump and the part that is mounted to the wall is a simple old floor dolly caster ! The nuts and bolts were all leftovers from other projects . You could easily make this same exact thing entirely out of wood and bolts as well . In the very near future I plan to improve on this design and possibly build more of these for different spots in the shop. This was a huge success for me as it acted as a proof of concept as I did not do any preliminary drawings . But I would first of all design and build a faster quick detach and reattach system for mounting the camera to the overhead rig and also for the wall mount so that I can quickly and easily move this entire rig around the shop to get different camera views. I will leave links to actual overhead camera mounts so that you can either purchase one or get a good idea on how to build one. I enjoy challenging myself to make things from scratch and only using what I have available. More often than not I would draw up a design but this time I wanted to try and work only from my mind and it actually worked out ! When I finally did look up examples to show in the video my iteration of a camera mount was disturbingly similar to ones found on amazon! Get out there and build something ! Get that brain working ! Use up some of that old material thats laying around and have fun!
