So what are you able to do for people with gummy smiles?
We get quite a few patients with gummy smiles and it's more prevalent than people think. Patients are extremely self conscious. This is probably the most self conscious I've seen. People come in, they always talk to me kind of like this, and they never smile. It's really, really hard for me because I take all the before and after pictures. It's really hard for me to even get them to smile for a before photo. They will instantaneously put their hand like this and I have to actually ask them, put your hands down so we can get your smile before.

Now. The beautiful thing about gummy smile is so easy to treat and it's instantly gratifying. You see the results right away. And patients pretty much don't get any downtime with it. And they immediately look in the mirror and they say, I can't believe I waited so many years to get this done.

Now the postoperative experience is very comfortable, very easy. Most people say that I did not experience any discomfort at all. But everyone who's seen me, even though I still have stitches and they keep telling me like, oh my God, what have you changed? Your smile looks different.

So you just reshape the gums?
All we do is recontour the gums just around the natural tooth and is basically able to give a patient back their smile. A lot of these patients say that they have a very youthful appearance. They don't like the fact that they look childish.

Like a little tiny teeth?
They have tiny teeth and it makes them look very young. So specially when you have a female or male that are in their twenties and thirties, they don't want to look like they're 14 or 15. And it instantly gives them this beautiful young adult look.
