Kelmendi is a historical Albanian tribe and region in Kelmend municipality. It is located in the upper valley of the Cem river near Vermosh, which is Albania's northernmost village. The Kelmendi region is located in the District of Malësi e Madhe in northern Albania, situated in the northernmost and most isolated part of the country. Leqet e Hotit is a pass in the district of Shkodra, at an altitude of 730 m, through which passes the road of Malësia e Madhe that goes from Shkodra to Vermosh. It connects the karst plain of Hani i Hotit with the valley of Cem and divides the peak of Mështjerra (1447m). It descends with numerous meanders in the valley of Cemi for 500 m.
