Donald Trump said talks on security guarantees for Ukraine are “about 95% done” after meeting President Volodymyr Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago on 28 December 2025.
He said a deal to end the war is “a lot closer”, but warned “thorny issues” remain, mainly territory in eastern Ukraine (Donbas) and suggested it could take a few weeks to finalise. Trump also said a trilateral meeting involving Zelensky and Vladimir Putin could happen.
