🧠 SCMS: A Lightweight Architecture for Continual Memory in AI Workflows
In this video, I introduce a new user-facing architecture I've been working on called SCMS — Sparse Contextual Memory Scaffolding.
SCMS is a framework that enables continual learning in AI-assisted development environments—without requiring model retraining or external vector databases. It works by creating a living, structured memory system within your own dev workflow, helping LLMs retain and reapply patterns, context, and structure over time.
💡 Key Results:
96% time reduction in repeated pattern reimplementation
Optimized for long-horizon coding tasks
Fully model-agnostic (works with Claude, GPT, etc.)
Best paired with Windsurf IDE, but adaptable to others (e.g., Cursor, VS Code)
This system emerged from a 4-month empirical study using Claude 4.5 Thinking with Windsurf, and it’s now fully open-source.

📚 Works well with:
Any SOTA LLM
Windsurf (for organic memory generation)
Cursor, VS Code (with static rule sets like .cursorrules)
SCMS isn’t a silver bullet for AGI or continual learning, but it might be one of the missing pieces in building modular, user-owned memory systems that help bridge the gap between where we are now and where we’re headed.
If you're building with AI tools, experimenting with knowledge architectures, or thinking about post-labor workflows, I’d love your feedback.
🧪 Try it out, break it, fork it, and let me know what you discover.
