Messy Roots hosted a virtual summit on December 13, 2025, designed specifically for queer male leaders of color working in social impact spaces. Research shows that more than 80% of queer male leaders of color lack access to mentorship and are often underdeveloped in leadership opportunities. Determined to shift this reality, Messy Roots Founder Mario Jovan created the summit to address challenges that are frequently overlooked and under-supported. As a queer male leader of color himself, Mario envisioned a space where these experiences could be centered. The panel—composed of queer men of color—sparked an honest, meaningful conversation, allowing their lived experiences and insights to help fill the gaps left by traditional leadership development spaces.
