I Made My Dream Coat

When I started sewing 5 years ago, I dreamt of sewing a fancy wool coat from scratch, with a self-drafted pattern mind you. Well ... goal achieved!

This is the story of how I went about making my overcoat.

I start with pattern drafting. I used my basic shirt block and evolved it into a coat pattern. Then, I made a sample using a light cotton twill and acetate lining. Finally, I picked up a soft wool fabric for the outside and a satin lining on the inside. There were many trials and tribulations, but I learned a lot and I am proud of the final coat.
